Non-Tactile Keypads

A variation on the classic tactile membrane switch option, non-tactile keypads use accompanying light and/or sounds to indicate switch activation, rather than a tactile response from the graphic overlay of the user interface.

Non-tactile membrane switches are fundamentally different from traditional mechanical switches, as the lack of tactile feedback makes it possible to have a higher sensitivity and a faster reaction time, while offering a longer service life than their tactile counterparts.

Non-tactile keypads are not only a convenient user interface that comes with many practical benefits, they can also be an incredibly cost-effective option when incorporated into larger projects. This is particularly true due to their wide range of uses and long-lasting durability.

The Non-Tactile Switch Experience
Structure and Function

Non-tactile switches use a layered, self-contained design just like tactile switches, with the main design difference being that conductive pads are printed and used in place of the metal or plastic dome found in tactile membrane switches. The pads are printed on the underside of the top protective overlay of complex user interfaces.

Non-tactile membrane switches have characteristically flatter surfaces as a result, which means they can be designed in a wider variety of shapes. The lack of a metal dome or plastic dome beneath the overlay, along with the use of printed circuit boards and protective layers to enclose the conductive pads, allow for more compact and streamlined non-tactile membrane switch designs.

User Experience

Non-tactile membrane switches provide numerous benefits that enhance the user experience of electronic devices. Their thin and sleek design creates a modern and aesthetically pleasing appearance. Lightweight and easy to use, these kinds of switches also offer a fast response time, allowing for quick and accurate interactions.

They are dustproof and waterproof, which makes them easy to clean and provides long-lasting durability. Up to the challenge of extended use, even in harsh or extreme environments, you can rely on their continued performance in even the most challenging conditions.

With their thin cross-section and high sensitivity, these switches provide greater versatility and user convenience. Above all, they are cost-effective and economical, making them an affordable option for electronic devices across many industries.

Made to Last

Non-tactile keypads offer a solid state, low-component design and high durability, which means that they are easy to clean, low maintenance and long lasting, even in the most demanding applications.

Non-tactile keypads are often the best solution when the surrounding environment will be characteristically dark or subject to extreme industrial conditions. They are designed and manufactured to withstand high vibration factors and maintain both their usability and form in such conditions.
